Richard Dietl, better known to his friends as just “Bo”, was a private investigator and associate of Jordan Belfort. He provided information to Belfort regarding the then impending FBI and SEC investigation into him and his firm, Stratton Oakmont. Occasionally he was called upon to scare away individuals attempting to muscle in on Belfort’s empire.
Before becoming a private investigator, Dietl worked as an NYPD Officer and Detective from June 1970 until 1985 when he retired. He is known as one of the most highly decorated detectives in the history of the police department and has several thousand arrests under his belt. He co-authored the autobiography “One Tough Cop” which has been adapted into a major motion picture.
